The Candidates next show on Wed Sep 29 at Starlight in Waterloo, ON will also be our last. Thanks to everyone who has helped or supported us throughout the past six years. We appreciate it more than you know. Thanks and goodbye.

Chart Magazine CMW 2004 Showcase announced -- check below!

The Candidates have licensed some songs for use on the ol' TV -- a couple of our numbers have been used in the upcoming kids series "Radio Free Roscoe" (due to air on the Family Channel in Jan 2004), and one of our songs has been used on the Global/Lifetime show "Zoe Busiek: Wild Card". And there's more 'in the works', as they say. Soon we shall control all media. End communication.

Our apologies to all concerned that we had to cancel our October/November 2003 East Coast tour (and appearance at the Halifax Pop Explosion) at the last minute...circumstances beyond our control, and all that.

Cross-Canada tour in May 2003! Showcases confirmed at New Music West in Vancouver and North By Northeast in Toronto! Tour dates listed below...more to come...Yeah!

Our new record "FAME, FORTUNE & FREE DRINKS" is currently #36 on the National Campus Radio Chart (as of April 9/2003) in its 13th week on the chart (currently the longest-charting album on the Top 50) -- so keep requesting our tunes and we'll remember you when we become famous.

"Fame, Fortune & Free Drinks" was #7 on the Earshot Top 50 for campus radio play across Canada in February 2003! And is now #30 on the Earshot Top 50 for April 2003!

We have a new album out called "Fame, Fortune & Free Drinks". It is packed with Rock Power, Optimum Excitement and Songs About Girls. If you live in the Southern Ontario region and have a Beat Goes On franchise in your vicinity, you can order it online at www.beatgoeson.com Otherwise, check our website (www.thecandidatesrockband.com) for availability in other cities.

Request our CD at yer local campus radio station! Only you can make us the Stars we truly deserve to be! Truly.

Check out our latest Rock Show Performance Dates at the bottom of the page. Come one, come all, to our Professional Entertainment Spectacles. The shows, that i

Biography
What's that? Rock is dead, they say? Well, sir, Cambridge, Ontario's Rock & Roll Sensations, THE CANDIDATES, have a witty reply at the ready. "Put away yer turntables and yer samplers", they shout, "'cos, mama, we is on tha scene!" Yes, this UNSTOPPABLE ROCK FORCE is sure to reaffirm your waning interest in The Music They Call Rock and Roll.

Why, four good-lookin' twenty-somethin' gents armed with vintage gear and attitude to spare can surely rule the world! These are those four. ADAM THOMPSON (lead guitars/vocals), VINCE WARDELL (lead drums/vocals), STEPHEN PARKINSON (lead guitars/vocals) and NEIL MCDONALD (lead bass/vocals) have resolved to tackle the Rock World head-on, replete not only with the aforementioned gear and attitude, but also with an arsenal of Rock Moves so complete that the boys have steadfastly refused to unveil them all in any one show, for fear of rendering their entire audience completely blind. Oh yeah, and they write frighteningly concise Rock Gems with more hooks than a convention of pirates.

When witnessing the LIVE PHENOMENON that is THE CANDIDATES, dress sharply or risk being mocked relentlessly by this style-concious outfit and their equally attractive followers. To be sure, this ALL-OUT ENTERTAINMENT VENTURE of theirs is the real deal. It seems as if the pieces are finally in place and the plans designed for?WORLD ROCK DOMINATION! What do they sound like, you impatiently ask? Well, the classic sounds of The Who, The Small Faces, Thin Lizzy, New York Dolls, MC5, KISS and The Jam register high on their "likes" list, all bands with whom they share one distinct trademark: Quality. Handclaps and shakers your bag? Prepare to be pleased, friends.

And make no mistake, these boys ain't afraid of going 'one louder'. Their shows are already notorious for their ear-shattering intensity and The Candidates pledge to continue in that classic vein. "The amps go to 10 for a reason", they cry and sir, is that truer than truth. Yes, they may be concerned with such traditional Pop standards as melody and structure, but not at the expense of a good ol' sweaty and loud live performance. On their long and arduous journey to Ultimate Rock Stardom, The Candidates have been fortunate enough to share the stage with such stellar bands as: THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE, DANKO JONES, HOT HOT HEAT, THE SMUGGLERS, THE DIRTBOMBS, SAM ROBERTS, ROBIN BLACK & THE INTERGALACTIC ROCK STARS, THE WALKMEN, THRUSH HERMIT, BLURTONIA, CHEERLEADER, THE FLASHING LIGHTS, THE BLACK HALOS, THE LOCAL RABBITS, THE GRUESOMES, DUOTANG, THE SIGHTS, THE DAMN PERSONALS, THE GREEN HORNES, THE NUMBERS, THE MELIGROVE BAND, THE EXPLODERS, NEIL LEYTON & just about every other hot-shit young bunch of Rock Stars that this goodly continent has to offer. And, while no doubt impressed by the credentials and performances of all of the above bands, The Candidates' confidence in themselves has never been shaken.

For it was Bon Scott who said, while visiting the boys in a rare collective dream appearance, "You're better than the bloody lot of them!" before slyly adding, "and what's more, you sting live, baby!" You can't argue with the King, decided these Future SuperStars, and so continues their quest for FAME, FORTUNE & FREE DRINKS.

Join them, won't you? It's sure to be
